About Mission: Mahjong!
We're a volunteer-run group of mahjong players with a mission to foster community connection by providing a welcoming space for others who also want to learn and play mahjong!We primarily teach Chinese style mahjong, but welcome players of other mahjong styles to sit at our open tables and share our space with us.So whether you're a beginner who wants to learn how to play, an experienced player looking join a few games, or have a group looking for a space to play, we'd love for you to join us!We meet throughout the Las Vegas Valley, with multiple meet-ups every month. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Mission: Mahjong!’s Tourney! This event wouldn’t have been possible without the enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and generosity of our players, volunteers, and community partners.Whether this was your first tournament or you’re a seasoned competitor, we’re grateful you showed up ready to play and share in the joy of mahjong together. Mission: Mahjong!, in partnership with the World Mahjong Tour and HyperX Arena, will be holding its very first tourney on Sunday, December 21st!The Mission: Mahjong! Tourney rule set uses an adaptation of Hong Kong-style Chinese Mahjong. It retains the core structure and strategy of traditional mahjong, but streamlines point calculations by removing faan/base point conversions, and expands point-earning opportunities that reward creativity in hand-building, while still requiring an understanding of mahjong strategy fundamentals.The result is a fast-paced and inclusive format where new and experienced players have an opportunity to compete and win.

$350 - Grand Prize (Experienced Level)
$250 - Runner-Up (Experienced Level)
$150 - Intermediate Level 1st Place
$50 - Beginner Level 1st Place
Check-in on the day of the tourney will be from 11:00AM-11:30AM.

Want to Learn to Play Mahjong?
We work in partnership with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District to provide FREE opportunities to learn how to play mahjong every Sunday at one of the LVCC libraries throughout the Las Vegas Valley. You can see which days and where we'll be meeting up on our events page.We also meet up at Meepleville Board Game Cafe every 2nd and 4th Friday ($3.00 admission), and are looking into new locations to host more mahjong events and meet-ups in 2026!Instruction will be provided during the first 90 minutes of event start times. If you're unable to make it within the first 90 minutes, you're still welcome to join us and watch!Some of our regular players are often willing to offer informal instruction as they play. However, this is not guaranteed, so we ask that anybody who's coming to watch to please be respectful of mahjong games in progress.
Private Instruction
We will be offering private instruction starting in 2026 for both individuals and group events. For more information, contact us to let us know you're interested in private lessons, and we'll be sure to let you know when that option becomes available!
